Our Story

In January 2020, Matthew felt the call to begin again.

After years working as a master plumber in Vermont, he made the courageous decision to leave behind the life he had built and step into the unknown. Drawn by adventure, freedom, and a fresh chapter, he packed up his life and began chasing snowstorms across the country with close friends, collecting stories, memories, and meaningful connections along the way.

Eventually, his journey led him to California.

In North County San Diego, while searching for a yoga studio, Matthew found Woven We Are, Alexandra’s wellness center nestled in the heart of Carlsbad Village.

One Sunday evening, Alexandra arrived to teach her regular Soundscapes class—a meditation and sound healing experience for her community. She closed the studio doors, sat down at the altar, looked up, and there was Matthew: relaxed, smiling, and giving her quite the smirk.

Something sparked instantly.

Matthew returned for more classes whenever he was in town, and naturally, the two gravitated toward one another. Before long, life pulled them in different directions for a brief season. Alexandra traveled to Guatemala to continue studying with her Mayan elders, while Matthew headed to Montana to spend time with a dear friend and track wolves through Yellowstone.

Yet when their journeys ended, they both felt called to reconnect.

Matthew returned to San Diego, and only a short time later, the world turned upside down. As the pandemic unfolded, the two unexpectedly found themselves quarantining together in Alexandra’s home by the sea.

And then, somehow, life led them to Texas—the one place neither of them imagined they would end up.

Together, they closed Alexandra’s studio, packed up the home she had built over fifteen years, and made their way across the country with their beloved dogs, Crosby and Zephyr, beginning yet another chapter together.

Years, adventures, and countless road trips later, they felt another pull—this time toward the Texas Hill Country.

Drawn to nature and a slower way of life, they found home in Wimberley. Matthew continued building his work in water filtration, helping families reconnect to healthier living, while Alexandra deepened her work in sound, meditation, and healing. Together, they created a life rooted in purpose, family, and community.

Soon after moving, they sold their home, got engaged, and purchased land to build their future.

Then came one of life's most beautiful surprises.

On the very day they placed the deposit on their wedding venue, Alexandra discovered she was pregnant.

Not long after, the two chose to elope privately at Alexandra’s family ranch, standing beside the spring she had swum in since childhood—a place woven deeply into her family's story and now into their own.

From the very beginning, however, they knew they still wanted to gather the people they love most to celebrate this chapter together.

So, with full hearts, we welcome you here.

Thank you for traveling near and far to be with us. Thank you for celebrating our love, our union, and the beautiful little soul who joined us along the way.

Having all of our favorite people together in one place means more than we could ever express. We are so grateful you're here.

See you all beneath the oak tree.
